Emmaline Bennett is a Master’s student in the Social Studies Education program at Columbia Teachers College. She is co-chair of Columbia-Barnard Young Democratic Socialists of America, the group that organized the tuition strike, as well as a member of the elected national leadership of the YDSA.

Three thousand students at Columbia University have pledged to begin a tuition strike next semester if administrators do not concede to their demands. The strike is part of the nationwide student movement to end university austerity, resist rising student debt, and democratize the university.
