In the largest labor action in the newspaper publisher Gannett’s 100-year history, journalists at two dozen newspapers across eight states walked off the job to urge the ouster of CEO and board chairman Mike Reed, who has closed down newsrooms, implemented far-reaching layoffs, and devalued Gannett shares by more than 60% since taking the job in 2019.

Less than two weeks after 99% voted in favor of a historic strike, FedEx pilots reached a tentative contract with their employer that includes a 30% pay raise, a 30% increase in legacy pensions, and the creation of an additional company-funded pension, equal in value to the legacy pension, for each pilot.
