The disappearance of Brits from the top of the US charts
For the first time in recent memory, no British artists were in the top 10 best-selling songs of 2024 in the United States. Only nine of the top 40 tracks were by UK artists, a significant drop from 19 in 2019.
No British musical artist appeared in the worldwide annual chart of the year’s top 10 best-selling singles or albums in 2024, which hadn’t happened since 2003.

Sweden is ranked third globally in music exports, behind the United States and the UK, despite its population being less than one-sixth the UK’s.
