To Fight Another Day

Syriza founding member Michalis Spourdalakis on what it would take for that party to recover.
Tomorrow’s elections will be the third major Greek vote of the year. For those on the Left, the choices the first couple times around were clear enough: an overwhelming majority voted for Syriza in January and “Oxi” in July.
But now things are different. Discontent over Syriza’s decision to back down and sign a new memorandum with the troika led party rebels and other forces on the radical left to form a new group, Popular Unity.
Still, many committed radicals will be supporting Syriza’s bid to return to government. Among them is Michalis Spourdalakis, a founding member of Syriza and one of Greece’s foremost political scientists.
