Matching Donations Until the New Year
Through the end of December, donations are matched, meaning your generosity will go twice as far.
We opened 2017 with a gesture of defiance. On the day Donald Trump became president, Naomi Klein, Jeremy Scahill, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Anand Gopal, and Owen Jones spoke at our Anti-Inauguration. “It had the vibe of a call-and-response church revival or a sold-out rock concert, rather than a political theory lecture,” as Huffington Post reported. Since then, these important speeches have been seen by hundreds of thousands, and tens of thousands more have read our free e-book.
By year’s end, we were emotionally drained from unceasing attacks on working people. But we were no less determined to keep the red flag flying, indicting the system itself in our Capitalism: A Debate. One thousand people flooded the historic Great Hall at Cooper Union in New York City, largely rooting for the good guys. We were delightfully surprised to see Bloomberg write, “one of the hottest tickets in New York City this weekend was a discussion on whether to overthrow capitalism.”
Hundreds of thousands have since watched these electric events — and in between them, Jacobin has been very busy. We’ve published hundreds of articles in print and online, reaching millions. We launched a journal of theory and strategy, Catalyst, to bring intellectual rigor to important debates, in plain and digestible language. We produced a dozen more events, and supported reading groups, in hundreds of cities across the US and around the world.
This is what it means to be the largest socialist publication in generations. With that mantle comes a profound responsibility. For us at Jacobin, the work of our lives is contributing to a left that is better informed about the present, and more capable of learning from history and each other. In short, it’s helping along a project that can win better lives for billions of working people.
You can help us grow the number and quality of articles in print and online, expand the types of debates we facilitate, produce more frequent, more ambitious political interventions, and continue supporting reading groups and other popular education projects. In fact, your support is crucial to these efforts.
We’re extremely proud to be able to accomplish all this, but we do it with a small staff and limited resources. Simply put, with more, we can do more. If you’re able, please make a donation of even just $25 or $50. Through the end of December, we have a matching grant, meaning your generosity will go twice as far.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will help make possible a 2018 in which Jacobin further penetrates the mainstream with socialist perspectives.
Please make a donation online or mail a check (date before 12/31) to Jacobin Foundation, 388 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217.
